COMPANY TYPE

Monsoon

Description:

Monsoon opened its first store in Beauchamp Place in Knightsbridge in 1973 and the first Accessorize store was opened next to a Monsoon in Covent Garden in 1984. Monsoon rapidly grew and became recognised for its exquisite and vibrant fabrics which are inspired by ethnic origins from across the continent.

Recently the label has experienced a loss in growth and development as Monsoon Accessorize has been struggling for some time and over the past two years it has closed 40 stores.

Monsoon Accessorize founder Peter Simon is reported to have promised to inject £34m into his brand as part of a bid to secure approval from creditors and landlords for a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). In July 2019 Creditors confirmed they have backed plans to reduce rents on 135 stores.
