Pronounced "Tirrit" and sounding like a character from a Dickensian novel, Charles Tyrwhitt was started back in 1986 by Nicholas Wheeler. Charles and Tyrwhitt are his two middle names and he thought he could make a better shirt than anybody else.
Since then, they have expanded their range to include everything from formal shirts to separates, suits and shoes, in addition to a casual collection, knitwear and accessories.
Accessibly priced formalwear, Charles Tyrwhitt pioneered direct to consumer marketing and selling and has expanded its retail footprint in the UK and has stores in New York, Paris, Washington DC and Chicago.
