The British fashion label was established in 2006 by Christopher Kane and his sister Tammy, following the former’s award winning Central Saint Martin's MA show. In 2007, Christoper Kane was awarded New Designer of The Year at the British Fashion Awards and Women’s Wear Designer of the Year at the 2013 British Fashion Awards at the London Coliseum, just two of the many accolades to have been bestowed upon the designer.
In 2013 luxury conglomerate Kering acquired a 51% stake in the brand but announced in 2018 that it was in talks with the designer about enabling the designer to take back full control of his brand.
Kering is focusing on its superbrands, which include Gucci and Saint Laurent, and the announcement concerning Kane came shortly after it sold back its 50% stake in Stella McCartney to the British designer.
