Launched in 2008 by brothers Alexandre, Laurent and Raphaël Elicha, The Kooples is a French contemporary brand targeted at men and women. The brand is famous for its slim tailoring, dark colours and gothic patterns mixed with a gender-neutral style. In 2017, the brand branched into the sportswear world with its first collaboration with Puma.

This year (2019) the business was acquired by Swiss fashion group Maus Freres, which also owns Lacoste, Aigle and Gant.
