Established by entrepreneurs Kieran O’Neill and Ben Phillips, who had previously worked together on a start-up in the gaming industry, Thread aims to shake up the way men shop by combining AI with human stylists.
The business has been through a number of funding rounds and in the autumn of last year revealed it had received $22m in a Series B funding round that includes investment from H&M’s CO:LAB fund.
Balderton Capital and Beringea, Forward Partners, noted retail investor Maurice Helfgott and former Lane Crawford deputy president Sebastian Picardo also took part in the funding. The business then went on to secure a further £1m via Crowdcube becoming one of the fastest ever campaigns to hit £1m.
