Bethany Williams is a UK based sustainable womenswear and menswear label. This label believes that social and environment issues go hand in hand through finding in innovative design solutions to sustainability.
Bethany Williams focuses on improving the social space as well as the environmental through using social capital, intellectual and labour-intensive skills. This label aims to create profit, which will be given to connected charities, continuing the cycle of exchange. Through collaboration with communities and charities, Bethany Williams hopes to create a collection embedded with real people and hopes to cause a real effect in the social space
Their current collection ‘Breadline’ highlights and help find solutions to the hidden hunger problems in the UK. This label works alongside the Vauxhall Food Bank and Tesco to achieve this. Bethany Williams has developed an exchange of fresh fruit and vegetables (from Tesco) for waste items from the food bank. This sustainable label has also developed a collection using these waste materials, plus recycled cardboard and ‘Tesco everyday value’ branded organic prints, all donated by Tesco.
Bethany Williams donate 30% of profits to The Vauxhall food bank, continuing the cycle of exchange. Through traditional hand-crafted techniques and working with local crafters, this sustainable brand has developed the surface of these waste materials to create hand crafted woven, printed, knitted and embroidered materials.
All garments are 100% sustainable and made in the UK, even down to the buttons which are hand crafted in the Lake District from its collaborators own planting of trees.
