First opened in London in 2004, Dover Street Market is a directional multi-brand retailer with stores in New York City, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and Los Angeles. It was founded by Japanese fashion designer and founder of the Comme Des Garçons brand, Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe.
The store sells all Comme Des Garçons brands as well as other high fashion labels such as Balenciaga, Celine, Gucci, J.W. Anderson and Maison Margiela.
When it opened, Dover Street in Mayfair was considered to be an off-pitch, unfashonable location (which was in keeping with the store’s contrarian attitude) but as other designer brands began springing up on the street, including Victoria Beckham, it upped sticks and move to Haymarket in 2016.
