Established in Scotland in 1834, M&Co (formerly Mackays) has a rich heritage in fashion retail. Starting as a small drapery store, it evolved into a respected high-street brand offering clothing for the entire family.

With a commitment to quality and affordability, M&Co expanded its reach across the UK and online. The brand's fusion of classic and contemporary styles caters to diverse tastes, cementing its position as a trusted name in British fashion.

In 2020, it first went into administration but was bought back by its Scottish owners the McGeoch family. In December 2022, M&Co once again collapsed into administration after costs soared for the business. The company appointed administrators from the financial advisory firm Teneo, with the aim of pursuing a sale “in an accelerated timeframe", which was achieved with the help of AK Retail.
