Levi Strauss, a German-American businessman, established Levi Strauss & Co. in 1853. He and tailor, Jacob Davis, combined copper rivet reinforcements with tough denim, leading to the first manufactured waist overalls in 1873.
Now, as American as Disney or Coca-Cola, and one of the world's largest apparel brands, today, they call them "blue jeans", and are sold in more than 110 countries, grouped into three geographic regions: Americas, Europe and Asia.
Levi's employs over 17,000 people around the world supporting their brands, including Levi's and Dockers.
