Founded in Florence in 1921 by designer Guccio Gucci, Gucci is an Italian luxury fashion house. The company quickly became one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of high-end leather goods, clothing, and other fashion products. In the 1950s and 1960s, movie stars posed in Gucci’s clothing, accessories, and footwear for lifestyle magazines around the world, contributing to the company’s growing reputation.

The company has a strong digital online presence and opened, in 2011, a museum dedicated to the fashion house. Today it is the jewel in the crown of the Kering conglomerate, under creative director Alessandro Michele. In 2018 sales were up 37% to €8.3bn.
