Gucci sets sights on London's cobbled streets to host cruise show

Many British brands such as Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney show overseas during fashion month, which is why it may come as a surprise that the storied Italian house Gucci is bringing its Cruise 2025 fashion show to the UK’s capital this Spring.

Today, the Italian house announced that its upcoming cruise collection will be shown on British soil on 13 May. This follows last year's cruise collection show which took place in Seoul.

Luxury fashion may have spread far and wide in terms of its global appeal, but it hasn't forgotten its old friend - the UK. Take Chanel for example, the Parisian house showed its 2023/24 Métiers d'art runway in Manchester in December.

This will be Creative Director Sabato De Sarno's first foray into the realm of Cruise collections for Gucci, who revealed his first show for the brand last season in Milan.

Gucci's owner Kering turned to De Sarno last year for his 'quiet luxury' aesthetic, following his reign at Valentino. This came after Alessandro Michele was let go following reports that he was unwilling to tone down his maximalist designs despite a cool-down in sales.

De Sarno came to London in October to launch the Gucci Cosmos exhibition extravaganza, which is what possibly sparked his idea to return to the city.

While few details surrounding the show have been revealed, there's one thing we know for certain - a whole host of starlets will be in attendance. Gucci's fashion shows are notoriously celeb-centric affairs. In September, Julia Roberts, Kendall Jenner and Rylan Gosling among many more showed up in Milan to sit front row.

The last Gucci runway to come to London was in June 2016, when Alessandro Michele presented his pre-spring/summer 2017 collection at the impressive Westminster Abbey. Though Gucci has yet to reveal the show's location, we can expect a grandiose location that can take on the Abbey.
