Founded in 1972 by Stephen Marks, French Connection set out to create well-designed fashionable clothing that appealed to a broad market.

In 1978, French designer, Nicole Farhi, joined. In 1983, her eponymous label was launched by the French Connection parent group and this was not sold until 2010. The company is currently for sale.
