Founded by Linda Bennett in 1990A, LK Bennett was created to bring "a bit of Bond Street luxury to the High Street". Known for its signature kitten heels favoured by celebrities and royalty, LK Bennett became a destination for feminine footwear.
The brand launched its first ready-to-wear womenswear collection in 1998. The company then began to open concessions in Spain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and the US, including in-store concessions in chains including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, John Lewis and Fenwick.
Lina Bennett sold the business to Phoenix Equity Partners and Sirius Equity in 2008 for a reported £100 million, becoming one of Britain's most successful entrepreneurs. In April 2017 the brand announced that Linda Bennett would be returning to its helm with a focus on product and brand development. In September 2017 she bought out the company.
The company went into administration in March 2019. The following month LK Bennett was bought out of administration, saving 325 jobs. The company was bought by Byland UK.
