Joseph Cheaney established the Cheaney company in 1886, a luxury footwear brand. During the first 80 years, the factory made shoes exclusively for some of the finest retailers around the world, branded to their individual company requirements.
In 1964, Church’s English Shoes bought the business and made their products available to retailers all over the world. In 2016, the business won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and, in 2009, the brand was sold to Jonathan and William Church.
