The fashion world has been shaken up by the news that Davide Renne, who was appointed the Creative Director of Moschino just last month, has died of undisclosed causes at the age of 46.

Renne's passing happened just days after he stepped into his new role at the Italian fashion brand. In his new role, he was overseeing women’s, men’s and accessories for the Moschino main line, reporting to Massimo Ferretti, Executive Chairman of Aeffe SpA. He succeeded Jeremy Scott, who exited the brand last March after a 10-year tenure.

He was set to debut his first Moschino collection for AW24 during Milan Fashion Week in February 2024.

The designer previously held the position of Head of Womenswear at Gucci for two nearly decades, since February 2004.

On his passing, Massimo Ferretti, Chairman of Aeffe SpA, shared the kind words: “There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time. Davide joined us only a few days ago when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still can't believe what happened.

“With Davide, we were working on an ambitious project, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected. Today we are left with the responsibility of carrying on what his imagination and creativity had only envisioned. Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.”

Moschino took to Instagram to announce Renne's tragic passing, writing: “It is with deep sorrow and great sadness, that Moschino announces that Davide Renne passed away on November 10th, 2023 in Milan.

“Davide took on the role of Creative Director at Moschino just a few days ago, on November 1st, 2023.”

The fashion followers flocked to the comments second to share their condolences with love heart emojis and anecdotes about the beloved designer.
