Jeremy Scott is stepping down as Creative Director of Italian luxury house Moschino after 10 years in the role.

Scott has been at the helm of the luxury fashion house since October 2013, presenting his first collection for the business during the fall 2014 season. According to the official statement, his debut collection “launched a thousand debates on the role of fashion in the annals of art, consumerism, and social commentary”.

Scott became known for his colourful and playful designs that frequently referenced pop culture or current events. Catwalk collections during his tenure as Creative Director were often inspired by brands including Barbie, McDonald’s, as well as household items including cleaning products.

Massimo Ferretti, Chairman of Aeffe S.p.A. said: “I am fortunate to have had the opportunity of working with the creative force that is Jeremy Scott. I would like to thank him for his ten years of commitment to Franco Moschino’s legacy House and for ushering in a distinct and joyful vision that will forever be a part of Moschino history.”

Moschino has not confirmed a successor to Scott, with an announcement expected before the next catwalk season. As for Scott, it is unclear if he will be moving to a new Creative Director role or reviving his own brand.

Jeremy Scott added: “These past 10 years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination. I am so proud of the legacy I am leaving behind. I would like to thank Massimo Ferretti for the honour of leading this iconic house. I would also like to thank all of my fans around the world who celebrated me, my collections, and my vision for without you none of this would be possible.”

The announcement follows the recent departure of Alessandro Michele from from Gucci and Riccardo Tisci from Burberry. Raf Simons also recently closed his eponymous label, closing with a final spring/summer 2023 collection.
