Matalan adds to leadership team with new retail and supply chain appointments
Matalan has named Phil Hackney as Chief Supply Chain Operation Officer and Katherine Davis as Chief Retail Officer as the business continues its transformation strategy.
Hackney most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at The Very Group until May 2022. Prior to this, he was Logistics Director at Pets at Home.
As Chief Supply Chain Operation Officer, he will be responsible for the brand's logistics and supply chain operations.
Davis joins Matalan from Paperchase, where she has served as Chief Retail & People Director since May 2021. She has also previously held senior positions at Pets at Home, Asda, George at Asda and Marks & Spencer.
In her new role, Davis will focus on executing Matalan’s retail strategy. Both Davis and Hackney will report to Jo Whitfield, who was appointed as CEO earlier this year.
Whitfield said: “I am thrilled to welcome Phil and Katherine as two great new additions to the senior executive team as we continue to move at pace through our transformation.
"We will be able to benefit from their deep industry experience as they support Matalan’s executional excellence in their respective focus areas.”
The news follows a number of recent appointments by Matalan, following the takeover of the value fashion giant by its former lenders. These include former Lidl CEO Karl-Heinz Holland as Chair and former Customer Director of Co-op Ali Jones as Chief Customer and Omni-Channel Officer.
