Online retailer, Zalando, has announced the appointment of apparel industry expert Pascal Brun as new Vice President of Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion.

In his new role, Brun will be directly reporting into Padmaja Bommareddy, the SVP of Corporate Development. He will be responsible for driving both Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion, ‘further integrating them into the strategic ambitions of the company’.

By merging the Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion teams together, the company is aiming to achieve a more holisitic approach to realising company goals for Zalando and the fashion industry as a whole.

Pascal Brun commented: "I am thrilled to embark on this new journey at Zalando. The new setup - embedding Sustainability and D&I in the strategic heart of the Zalando organisation - will give my team the right lever to contribute meaningfully in the near and long term future, by building upon the great foundation work that has been done in the last years.

"I feel honoured that I can guide Zalando to strive for positive impact and meaningful growth across our value chain."

Brun joins Zalando after a 16 year stint at fellow retail giant H&M. During his time there, he worked across different continents and a variety of management role including Sustainability and Supply Chain Management.

Padmaja Bommareddy concluded: "We are very excited that Pascal has joined our team, as he shares our strong passion for creating a more equitable and sustainable world for future generations and enabling the fashion industry to drive positive change."

This news comes after the online retailer reported stable revenues of £4.14 billion (€‎4.8 billion) in the first half of 2023 compared to €‎4.8 billion the year prior, thanks to "continued efficiency measures and improved order economics".

Gross profit sat at £1.63 billion (€‎1.89 billion) compared to £1.66 billion (€1.93 billion) the year prior.
