Diesel launches NFT trainer

Diesel has announced the launch of its first NFT trainer, designed by Glenn Martens.

Called the Prototype, Diesel is introducing the new unisex trainer as part of an “intense repositioning” of the brand.

Diesel has exclusively partnered with neuno.io, a start-up platform aiming to become the luxury NFT marketplace, to recreate the Prototype 3D design as a limited-edition NFT.

Creative Director at Diesel and the Y/Project, Glenn Martens, has designed the black, white and red trainer, featuring rubber straps, asymmetric lacing, an industrial outsole tread and rubber overlays.

Paris-based Martens was formerly a guest designer of the experimental capsule series Diesel Red Tag in 2018. The designer has since been awarded the ANDAM fashion prize, of which Diesel parent OTB is a mentor and sponsor.

The physical shoe will be available online and in Diesel stores worldwide, with additional colour options dropping in February 2022.

Diesel is joining a wave of fashion brands launching NFTs, including Burberry, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton.
