British designer Phoebe Philo, who garnered a cult following for her laid-back luxury aesthetics, is bringing her eponymous collection to America’s Bergdorf Goodman next week – marking the brand's brick-and-mortar debut.

Yumi Shin, Chief Merchandising Officer of Bergdorf Goodman, said in a statement: "Phoebe Philo is without a doubt one of the most powerful design visionaries in the history of fashion.

"We are honoured to bring Phoebe’s uncompromising, thoughtful and deeply luxurious work to Bergdorf Goodman in what we expect will be a fruitful, ongoing collaboration."

Starting April 11, Bergdorf’s will offer more than 100 styles from the first and second edits of Philo’s designs for a limited time.

Bergdorf’s will be providing an exclusive in-store experience at its Fifth Avenue flagship in Manhattan, with the collection set out on the fourth floor. Styles available include a range of bags, ready-to-wear and accessories will be available until it sells out.

Shin continued: "We’ve missed Phoebe’s acute understanding of the modern women, unwavering commitment to quality, and unmatched vision.

"Her innovative approach to a seasonless offering and an ongoing body of work will undoubtedly resonate with our customers. The edits offer extraordinary designs that are exacting in their execution and will be timeless wardrobe essentials like the Gig bag, the double-breasted Milanese jacket, the Shrunk Bomber and an array of tailored trousers."

When it comes to the brand's aesthetic, quiet luxury is the order of the day, with prices set accordingly. If The Row's pricing is considered steep, Pheobe Philo’s coats can set customers back £12,000.

The elite collection will arrive at the store in two drops, first in April and then in May. It will only be sold at Bergdorf Goodman’s store and not on its website.

Philo was creative director at Celine until 2018 (the role is currently held by Hedi Slimane) and creations from her decade-long tenure at the LVMH-owned house are still sought after on the secondary market with Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking them down. Prior to Celine, Philo was creative director at Chloé, having taken over from her friend Stella McCartney who left to start up her label.

In late October 2023, the ‘less is more’ designer returned to the fashion realm after teasing the launch of her brand in July 2021. After a three-year hiatus, she launched the line - with the backing of LVMH -which is reminiscent of the "old Celine" vibe. Since then, Philo's body of work has only been available direct-to-consumer through the brand’s website.
