A new competition designed to incentivise and showcase the UK’s next generation of jewellery designers and makers has opened for entries.
Launched by Monica Vinader – the demi fine jewellery brand famed for its use of sustainable materials – the competition offers entrants the chance to win £5,000 and to design a six-piece collection for exclusive sale on the Monica Vinader website.
Submissions to the “New From Old” themed-competition must include a three-piece collection of “wearable creativity”, made using recycled or found materials.
Entrants have until 11 January to make their submissions, which will then be judged by an expert panel including Monica Vinader, Giles Last (course leader of Jewellery Design at Central St Martins), Caroline Issa (magazine publisher and editor at Tank and Because), Doina Coibanu (sustainable fashion advocate) and Gianluca Longo (style editor at Vogue) amongst others.
