London Fashion Week SS24 Highlights: Mark Fast favours futuristic cowboys

15 September 2023

Mark Fast's Spring/ Summer 2024 catwalk collection channelled desert sunsets and sand dunes today, turning the metropolis that is London's Westminster into a mystic 'desert landscape with the promise of a vibrant dawn'.

This season's collection, fittingly dubbed 'Dawn to Dusk', might allude to a more toned-down version of Fast, but the presentation was quite the opposite.

The colour palette paid homage to 'the desert's enchanting beauty', with the volume turned up, in true Mark Fast style. The brand described it to reflect 'vivid evening skies to sun-kissed denim, all accented by electrifying neon tones.'

The designer painted a picture of electric cowboys, doused in fringe, denim and leather. But, of course, each look had a futuristic allure.

Fast, who graduated from Central Saint Martins in February 2008, is renowned for his expertise in knitwear technology. Throughout every collection to date, this has remained apparent. Take today as an example, textured knit dresses swarmed the runway, from barely-there fishnet bodycons to heavily adorned embellished knits.

Unlike last season, there were no footwear malfunctions. In fact, the designer reimagined the western boot into various silhouettes including cutout cowboy boots, neon adorned stilettos and fringed footwear. Each pair complemented the high-octane looks from sequined mini skirts to tie-dye denim two-pieces.
