In Pictures: Marc Jacobs adds an extra dose of punk to Dr. Martens

The dream team, Dr. Martens and Marc Jacobs, have once reunited to create a pair of boots that "transverse the age".

The kinship, which dates back to the 90s, has seen collaborations of the past reach sell-out stardom. Now, as part of Dr. Marten’s 10-year celebrations of the Jadon boots, the footwear brand and Jacobs have reunited. Here they can be seen shot of label-defying artist Yves Tumor.

The designer pays homage to the heritage of the Jadon boots, "engineered to empower", that were first rolled off the DM's production line in 2013. The silhouette remains the same, but is now adorned with charms and keep sakes, adding a punk-twist to the already submersive style.

Marc Jacobs has been beating the drums of disruption since he founded his eponymous label. Given the brands’ mutual attitudes, it’s no surprise that Jacobs was the first designer to send the then avant garde Dr. Martens down the runway. The designer juxtaposed silk slip dresses with chunky boots during his stint as Creative Director at Perry Ellis’ 1993 show. This cemented his palce in the history books and propelled the grunge aesthetic of the 90s.

The Marc Jacobs x Dr. Martens boots are finished with a dual-branded tongue and swing tag and will be available on 15 September exclusively online.

Earlier this year, Marc Jacobs also joined forces with luxury label Blumarine - renowned for its high-octane embellishments and Y2k-inspired floral detailing - on a playful capsule collection that combines high fashion with ultra-feminine design codes.
