The British Fashion Council (BFC) has released a provisional schedule for the upcoming London Fashion Week (LFW), taking place from 16-20 February 2024.

It marks the 40th anniversary of the UK fashion event, which has now been labelled as 'LFW40' and will "spotlight London’s unique creative communities and its position as a world leading cultural capital".

Among the announcements made, the BFC confirmed that from 2024 fur is banned from the LFW schedule, with the requirement now implemented into the 2024 application process for brands and designers.

With this in mind, many familiar menswear and womenswear designers are still set to return for the February event.

The schedule features highlights from Burberry, 16Arlington, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Eudon Choi, Fashion East, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, Richard Quinn, Roksanda, and Simone Rocha.

The BFC NewGen Show Space will also return to The Old Selfridges Hotel, with designers including Aaron Esh, Feben, Helen Kirkum, Robyn Lynch, Saul Nash and Yuhan Wang.

The final physical and digital schedule for LFW will be released in January 2024 and will include further updates and specific information regarding the format and timings of each activation.

It comes after British Fashion Council Chair David Pemsel shared a refocused strategy to help champion British fashion as a "creative force on the world stage" following its menswear show in June.

After taking over from Stephanie Phair last year, Pemsel has been working with BCF CEO Caoline Rush to "focus our resources and the expertise available to us on responsible growth, relentless innovation and the global and local amplification of the British fashion industry".
