Asics EMEA reports “solid” third quarter

Japanese footwear label, Asics, has reported that net revenues across EMEA in the third quarter, ending 30 September 2023, saw an increase of 5.5% across all channels. 

Overall, net sales reached a record high at £2.4 billion (448.1 billion yen), up by 23% year-on-year. The gross margin was up by 51.2% and operating income was £301.8 million (55.8 billion yen), up by 54.8%. Net income also reached a record high at £217.4 million (40.2 billion yen), up 73.3%.

In the EMEA region, operating income margin was 12.6% year-on-year. The company, renowned for its 'dad shoes', also reported profitable growth across all channels. Wholesale channels saw a growth of 2.7%, with an increase in the UK by 36.9%. As for e-commerce, revenues increased by 30.8%.

In the last 12 months up to September 2023, Asics gained 3.5% points market share in footwear (vs. last year) in the Running category above €90 in EU5 (UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) according to the latest Circana Consumer panel data.

Chief Executive Officer of Asics EMEA, Carsten Unbehaun, commented: “Despite challenging market conditions, Q3 2023 has been a solid quarter for the Asics in EMEA. This follows the news that Asics took to the runway at London Fashion Week in September. 8ON8 models walked the runway sporting trainers from the brand's footwear collaboration with Asics. 8ON8 re-interpreted the classic Asics Kayano-Kayano14, in celebration of the silhouette's 30th anniversary, using three-dimensional line printing technology in gradient silver tones.
