Net-A-Porter faced with delivery disruption as union announces strike action

Net-A-Porter could face significant disruption to deliveries during peak trading as the GMB Union is planning to take 22 days of strike action at its Charlton warehouse unless the company agrees to new pay terms for its members.

The action is planned to take place during November and December and comes after 91% of the union's 200 members at the luxury etailer's South East London warehouse voted to go on strike.

Current pay proposals are said to leave the union members without a pay rise in the first six months of the financial year.

Union leaders are urging parent company Yoox Net-A-Porter to enter into new negotiations to avoid significant disruption to deliveries during peak trading.

GMB Regional Organiser Mick Butler said: “Net-a-Porter is a luxury brand that sells high-end fashion for large sums of money.

“None of their operations would be possible though without our members working hard to ensure these online purchases get to their destinations on time.

“Given how much money the company makes, it’s only fair that a few crumbs from the table get sent to the people generating this income.

“If Yoox Net-a-Porter don’t want their operations halted at what is undoubtedly their busiest time of year, GMB are prepared to meet at any time to discuss a decent pay rise for our members.”

Strike days announced by GMB Union are:

Tuesday 7 November 2023 from 6.30am until Saturday 11 November 8.00am

Monday 20 November 2023 from 6.30am until Saturday 25 November 8.00am

Monday 4 December 2023 from 6.30am until Saturday 16 December at 8.00am

Yoox Net-A-Porter has been contacted for comment.
