Zara makes a grand return to Metrocentre with a doubled-in-size store

Global fashion retailer, Zara, has returned to the North East's Metrocentre after undergoing a major refurbishment and more than doubling in size of their retail unit.

The 42,000 sq ft store, in the centre’s Red Mall, opened last week. It features an expanded product offering across all departments as well as the instalment of the latest technological innovations via its fitting rooms and self-service tills.

Ben Cox, Senior Asset Manager for Metrocentre at Sovereign Centros, commented: "As the only Zara store in the region it has been amazing to see the reaction from our shoppers for the return of this much-loved brand. To be the location of choice within the North East for another retail giant further reinforces Metrocentre’s position as the dominant trading location in the region.

"The Zara opening comes at an exciting time for the centre and marks the first in a series of new additions with Treetop Golf opening next week and Flannels, Sports Direct, Everlast Gym and Flying Tiger set to open in November."

This upsizing is part of Sovereign Centros’ strategy to bring flagship stores to Metrocentre. Zara’s new store adds to the centre’s portfolio of flagships including Flannels, JD Sports, H&M, River Island and Next.
