Tod's has named Matteo Tamburini, most recently of Bottega Veneta, as its new creative director across women's and men's collections.

Tamburini replaces Walter Chiapponi, who left the Italian luxury house this summer to join Blumarine. His first collection for Tod's will be for AW24 and will be shown at Milan Fashion Week in February.

"Matteo Tamburini is a talented creative," said Diego Della Valle, President and CEO of Tod's Group. "His modern vision of high quality and Italian lifestyle will definitely bring an added value to our brand. Tamburini will develop a creative team of highly skilled people with an in-depth understanding of the luxury world.”

Tamburini added: "I am honoured and excited to join the Tod's family and become part of a brand that is so closely tied to my origins and memories. I identify myself with the brand's values and the continuous pursuit of high quality and style it has undertaken until now, and I look forward to contributing with my expertise.”

His appointment comes on the same day that another luxury house, Givenchy, announced the departure of its creative director Matthew Williams. Williams is set to exit the luxury French house , after three years, on 1 January 2024 to “fully dedicate” his attention to his signature brand 1017 Alyx 9SM. Givenchy's collections will be designed by its in-house team until a successor is appointed.
