Freemans, the digital department stores, has unveiled what it has dubbed "the UK's best value wedding dress" amid the cost of living crisis – the full-length gown with cut out lace detailing is priced at just £58.

Part of Freemans' bonprix value range, the dress is 22 times cheaper than the average UK wedding gown, which according to the Hitched Bridal Survey 2023, comes in at £1,050.

The sub-£60 gown forms part of the new 12-piece bonprix Bridal Collection which has been carefully curated to ensure budget-conscious brides can look stylish while saving money.

Also included in the range is a designer-style off-the-shoulder dress with a lace bodice and a fitted mermaid skirt for £70, plus a boho-inspired sleeveless frock with plunging bodice and lace at the waist, again for only £70.

Mermaid dress: £70

Linda Quinn, chief merchandising officer, Freemans commented: “With the cost of the average wedding still over £18,000, an affordable wedding dress is one way couples can stay richer, nor poorer.”

“The responses to the new range have been phenomenal with hundreds of budget conscious brides rushing to buy our designer dupes within days of the collection being released.”

The range also includes maternity wedding styles at value prices to ensure there is no "bump tax" with a  lace sleeve dress with ribbon ties for just £20, in sizes six to 28, alongside a full-length traditional lace gown for £120.

Maternity wedding dress: £20

Quinn added: “Becoming parents is expensive enough so we worked hard to ensure there was no bump tax for pregnant brides. Our maternity gowns are the same price point as standard dresses to keep the range affordable and inclusive.”

Freemans also offers bridesmaids dresses from £40 and groomsman suits from £100. Options for the mother of the bride start at £30.
