Swarovski's new sustainable collection launching exclusively in Selfridges

28 March 2023

Crystal company Swarovski is championing sustainability with the new environmentally-conscious Hyperbola capsule collection, which will be available at an exclusive pop-up in London’s Selfridges.

This launch is part of Swarovski’s journey towards making its products more sustainable. The Hyperbola collection is made from innovative materials and processes, without forfeiting the glamour and savoir-faire that the 1895-founded brand is known for.

Swarovski’s capsule collection features a ring, bracelet and three pairs of earrings. Each piece is crafted using certified carbon neutral Swarovski Zirconia and recycled metal. This launch marks the first step that the brand is taking towards switching all its Zirconia to carbon neutral.

The Swarovski Zirconia was created using renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions by 58% compared to regular zirconia, whilst the remaining 42% of emissions have been offset

The calculated CO2 impact was compensated through high-quality carbon credits, which were channelled to Huóshui Small Hydropower to provide renewable energy in remote regions of South-West China. It was also channeled into the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve in Borneo to help protect this area of Indonesia from deforestation.

In addition, the recycled metal (at least 90%) repurposes precious resources, which further reduces the impact Swarovski products have on the environment.

In 2021, Swarovski joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 47% and Scope 3 emissions by 28% by 2030.

The Hyperbola collection is available exclusively in-store at Selfridges London and online from April 2023.

This follows the announcement that David Wielemans was appointed Swarovski’s new Chief Financial Officer and member of its Executive Committee, effective 23 April. He joins Swarvoski from Essilor Luxottica, where he held the position of co-CFO for the Essilor Luxottica Group and CFO for Essilor International.
