The Irish-born designer Simone Rocha, who showcased her Spring Summer 2024 collection at London Fashion week just days ago, has been named Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest Guest Couturier.

Rocha, who's renowned for her heavily embellished looks, will take helm at Jean Paul Gaultier in January 2024 during Paris Couture Week.

Rocha posted on her Instagram account a bouquet of flowers with a note from Gaultier that read: "Congratulations on your show. And see you for your next one…in Paris!"

Simone Rocha will be the sixth guest couturier, taking the reigns from Rabanne’s Julien Dossena. The list of couturiers also include Haider Ackermann, Olivier Rousteing, Glenn Martens and Sacai’s Chitose.

Subsequent to Gaultier taking his final bow at Paris Fashion Week in 2020, he decided to create a couture line which invited a new guest couturier each season. Designers are invited to reinterpret his design DNA and archival looks, which span over the French designer's 50 year career.

Since 2020, these collaborative collections have become some of the most talked about among the fashion crowd and put Gaultier's name back in the spotlight.

Gaultier, who is renowned for sailor stripe, body-restricting corsetry and skin-tight mesh has a seemingly contrasting design DNA to Rocha. It's sure to be among the most anticipated collections at Couture Week.

This season, Simone Rocha made headwinds on the catwalk after showing her latest collaboration with Crocs.

The collection, which is bound to become beloved by Crocs' cult following, explores ‘the juxtaposition between femininity and utilitarianism’. Combining Crocs’ DNA with Rocha’s luxe design aesthetic, the partnership is introducing three new silhouettes – the Siren, the Classic Clog and the Quick Trail.
