Save the Children hosts Christmas Jumper Day at Covent Garden pop-up shop

Christmas jumpers are making a fashionable comeback this December, thanks to Save the Children and Beyond Retro’s collaborative pop-up shop in London's bustling Covent Garden.

Last year, Save the Children partnered with Thrift+ to open a ‘Jazz Your Jumper’ pop-up at London’s Westfield, offering customers the chance to revamp their old jumpers for the festive season.

Spicing things up for 2023, Save the Children is collaborating with Beyond Retro to create a festive pop-up shop, dubbed ‘Story Knits’. To celebrate the charity’s annual Christmas Jumper Day campaign, the Story Knits store will open its doors on Friday 1 December for one week.

The retail space is home to pre-loved knitwear provided by vintage store Beyond Retro, with jumpers telling a personalised story of a child helped by Save the Children.

The curated collection of knits brings to life the stories of 91 children – the number of young people helped by the charity around the world every minute. Each jumper has been handpicked and named after a child and is accompanied by a label telling their story.

Pre-loved jumpers on offer retail for £30, with 100% of proceeds going to Save the Children’s work in the UK and across the globe.

Since launching in 2012, Christmas Jumper Day has raised a total of £35 million to help transform the lives of children in the UK and across the world, by supporting them with the food, healthcare and education they need. Over a decade on, Save the Children continues to raise even more money to help children stay safe, healthy and learning.
