Sarah Mower MBE awarded for 'championing new talent' at The Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Council (BFC) is set to award the fashion journalist, renowned critic and advocate for young designers, Sarah Mower MBE, a Special Recognition Award for Championing Young Designer Talent at The Fashion Awards 2023 (TFA).

The award ceremony, which is taking place on 4 December at the Royal Albert Hall, is organised by the BFC. Not only are the TFAs the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation but it also celebrates 'fashion at the intersection of culture and entertainment'.

Sarah Mower MBE is a Critic at Vogue, a visiting Professor at Central Saint Martins, the BFC’s Ambassador for Emerging Talent and Chair of the BFC NEWGEN committee.

Mower will be one of the talents spotlighted this year for her contribution to the fashion industry and career in securing the pipeline of British fashion designers. Her support for emerging designers has led to the rise of Ashish, Bianca Saunders, Christopher Kane, Erdem, JW Anderson, Matty Bovan, Priya Ahluwalia, Richard Quinn, Simone Rocha and SS Daley to name a few.

This year, Mower has guest curated the landmark exhibition 'REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion' sponsored by Alexander McQueen. The exhibition, held at the Design Museum, celebrates 30 years of BFC’s NEWGEN and tells the story of hundreds of British designers who have transformed the fashion landscape.
