New Fila x 2Pac collection pays homage to late rapper’s 90s style

In partnership with the Shakur Estate, Fila has launched a special edition collection of footwear, apparel and accessories based on late rapper Tupac Shakur’s 90s hip hop style and affiliation with the sportswear brand.

The exclusive Fila x 2Pac collection features original recreations of iconic items from Fila’s archives and inspired by pieces worn by Tupac, including tracksuits, baseball tops, vests and two versions of his Fila sneaker of choice, the ‘Grant Hill 2’.

Tara Narayan, SVP Marketing of Fila North America, said: “Tupac had a distinct sense of style, one that is still emulated by artists and fans today. He was an activist, musician, artist and icon, and we worked alongside the Estate to curate a special collection that is a true reflection of his aesthetic. Tupac embraced Fila and we are honoured to have a small part in honouring a legend.”

The Fila x 2Pac collection also includes a range of hoodies, joggers, long sleeve crewnecks and T-shirts in white, navy and brown hues, featuring a co-branded Fila and 2Pac crest logo.

Additional apparel offerings consist of mesh logo jerseys in three different colourways, each with Fila emblazoned across the chest, and a matching jacket and cargo trouser set in a camo print.

The Fila ‘Grant Hill 2’ sneakers were famously worn by the rapper for his iconic ‘All Eyez on Me’ album cover, and were a staple in his daily wardrobe. They were also among the personal items on display at the ‘Tupac Shakur: Wake Me When I’m Free’ museum experience in Los Angeles earlier this year.

In addition to the ‘Grant Hill 2 Low x 2PAC ‘96 Reissue’ in the original red/white/navy colourway, the collaboration also includes a special ‘Grant Hill 2 Low x 2Pac’ in a brown/white colourway, with design touches such as paisley accents on the sock liners and Tupac’s signature on the quarter.

Also, on the shoe’s tongue, there is a velcro patch that reveals a ‘Tupac cross’, while the heel strap is adorned with a gothic Tupac script. Both footwear styles are packaged in custom shoe boxes featuring Tupac imagery and the bandana print.

There’s also accessories including bucket hats, beanies and bandanas in colourways that tie back to the apparel and footwear.
