NET-A-PORTER to launch resale service with Reflaunt
Net-A-Porter is to launch a resale service with re-commerce platform Reflaunt this autumn that will be extended to its menswear site MR PORTER and off-price business THE OUTNET in the new year.
The service will debut in the UK before being extended to the US, Germany, Hong Kong and other territories. It offers customers the chance to resell items across categories including jewellery, ready-to-wear, bags and shoes with Reflaunt managing the seamless service. Customers can opt to receive store credit (with an extra 10% incentive) or a bank transfer as payment.
Complimentary pickup, digital product authentications, pricing recommendations and photography of the items all form part of the service. In the case of bags, which is the most popular resale category, customers can receive instant credit without having to wait for their item to sell.
The move forms part of NET-A-PORTER's parent YOOX NET-A-PORTER Group's 2030 sustainability strategy which aims to support the circular economy and extend the lifetime of luxury products. The new partnership with Reflaunt also follows NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER’s first move into re-commerce earlier in 2021 through its Watchfinder & Co. partnership, offering a curated selection of the best in pre-owned luxury watches in the US, alongside a MR PORTER part-exchange service for its customers in the UK and US.
“More than ever, our customers are looking for fashion that is not only designed to last, but can go on to be re-loved,” said NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER and THE OUTNET president luxury and fashion Alison Loehnis. “We are thrilled to partner with Reflaunt and offer our customers an effortless service that allows them to resell their designer pieces with ease. We see re-commerce as a true enabler to tap into greater product longevity by extending the lives of pre-loved purchases. This collaboration represents an exciting step in our long-term mission to drive the change at Yoox Net-a-Porter to a more circular fashion ecosystem.”
Reflaunt founder and CEO Stephanie Crespin added: "We have always been impressed by YOOX NET-A-PORTER’s sustainability efforts and are so excited to be their partner as they embrace resale as critical element of their service offering. Reflaunt provides tailor-made resale technology solutions to fashion retailers while giving them access to the largest network of second-hand customers available worldwide.
"The data this service provides is invaluable and will help them fuel their next phase of growth. NET-A-PORTER, MR PORTER and THE OUTNET customers will be able to explore a fully branded and trusted resale experience and extend the life of their luxury products. It is greatly encouraging to see one of the global leaders in fashion ecommerce take this positive step forward into the circular fashion economy with us.”
Reflaunt recently partnered with luxury department store Harvey Nichols and also powers a resale service for global fashion giant H&M in Canada.
