M&S appoints new Director of Womenswear

Marks & Spencer has announced that Maddy Evans will take over the position of Director of Womenswear from Jill Stanton, who will step down from the retailer in July.

Evans joined M&S at the end of 2019 and the business says that she has been "instrumental in the reshaping" of its womenswear offer, introducing initiatives such as "The Edit" and overseeing collaborations like M&S x Ghost. In a company announcement made today, M&S also highlighted Evans' impact driving customer perceptions of value for money and driving changes in its style perception.

Evans will take over the role from Jill Stanton, who is currently Director of Womenswear, Beauty and Home. She has been with M&S for four years and played a "pivotal" role in reshaping the product offering across Womenswear, Kids and Beauty to be more "modern, stylish, and relevant", according to the retailer.

As part of the new arrangement Evans will focus solely on womenswear while kidswear will report into Wes Taylor, Director of Menswear. Beauty, on the other hand, will report into Heidi Woodhouse, Director of Home. According to the company both Home and Beauty are essential to the company's gifting offer and by working more closely together the brand can leverage more cross-ranging and cross-selling.
