Matalan strengthens online offer with new third-party brands

Matalan has added 10 new third-party brands to its website, with plans to expand this offer further next year. 

Launching exclusively online, the new brands include Quiz, Pink Vanilla, Blue Vanilla, Roman, Yumi, Mela London, Where’s that From, Izabel, Brand Threads and Toe Zone.

The move adds to Matalan's growing range of third-party brands, helping it to offer "an even greater choice of stylish and affordable clothing and footwear".

It also allows the value fashion retailer to cater for a diverse range of customers and needs by offering a wider range of sizes and styles, including plus size ranges.

Since launching third-party brands in September 2022, Matalan said it has been "agile" in responding to customer appetite and demand.

Highlights include celebrity collections such as Vogue Williams for Little Mistress and Jac Jossa, Gemma Atkinson and Stacey Solomon for In The Style, with some styles selling out within 24 hours of launching.

Ben Smith, Chief Trading Officer at Matalan, said: "We’re committed to offering our customers a dynamic online experience.

"We have been working hard to understand what the customer wants, and in Spring 2024 will be offering more choice in to key areas such as holiday shop, occasionwear and outerwear – watch this space."

The news comes after Matalan saw revenue rise to £288.6 million for the 13 weeks ending 26 August 2023, compared to £286.4 million in 2022.

Whilst revenue grew 8% in UK stores, the retailer's online channel was announced as being "actively targeted for improvement" after revenue dropped 34.7%.
