London Fashion Week SS24 Highlights: Sinead Gorey says Rule, Britannia!

If the year was 1996, there’s no doubt Ginger Spice would have called upon Sinead Gorey to design her upcoming Spice Girls tour ensembles after seeing the designer’s Spring Summer 2024, titled ‘British Summer of Love’, debut on the runway.

This season's collection, named after the 1988 free-party explosion, channels Londoner lineage through punk, rave and Britpop motifs. Figure-hugging silhouettes and unhemmed cut-outs meet union jacks galore. From bikinis to gowns, each silhouette truly received the Gorey Treatment.

As for the shoes, Gorey collaborated with Buffalo on her first footwear collection. This includes studded leather mules, bondage platforms and a legendary homage to Ginger Spice's very own Union Jack boots.

Sinead Gorey commented: "It's my first proper show in London, so I thought about what Britishness means to me. Sarcasm, pubs, unpredictable weather, and a love of partying."

Referencing the patchworked stripes that nod to iconic images such as Kate Moss at Glastonbury in 2005, the designer continued: "It's about having fun… Having a laugh and looking hot as you go- rain or shine."

Sinead Gorey made a name for herself in 2019 after establishing her namesake brand. This season marks a full circle moment for the designer who was first inspired by London's squat rave scene, which punctuated her teenage years. It’s safe to say she has now famed herself as the clubwear aficionado for partygoers in London and across the nation.
