Legendary fashion designer and creative chief at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, is reported to have died at the age of 85.
Paris Match in France has reported the news, which at the time of writing had not been confirmed by Chanel.
Lagerfeld’s absence from the house’s couture shows in Paris last month sparked rumours of his ill-health. He had been heading the house since 1983 and led its revival following the death of its founder n 1971.
As well as Chanel, Lagerfeld headed his own label and Italian house Fendi. A contemporary of Yves Saint Laurent and Hubert de Givenchy (who died last year), Lagerfeld was one of the giants of post WWII fashion design in France.
