Yorkshire-based fashion and homeware retailer Joe Browns has today reported its full year results to 30 June 2022, with both sales and profit up 20.9% and 7.8% respectively, in what it calls its “strongest year to date”.

Turnover over for the year was up from £39.1m in 2021 to £47.3m in 2022, while profit rose from £3.9m in 2021 to £4.2m in 2022.

In March 2023, the company revealed it is searching for 10 new stores across the UK by the end of 2024 “to bring Joe Browns unique ethos and handwriting to life”, while significantly increasing its footprint from its two existing stores, located in Sheffield's Meadowhall and York.

A separate franchise store, a first for the retailer, will open in Bowness-on-Windemere’s Queen’s Square, Cumbria, in late spring 2023, spanning 2,500 sq ft and offering a range of womenswear, menswear and home products.

In January 2023 the retailer also revealed it is investing £2 million in a warehouse upgrade that is designed to support its growth ambitions. That is set for completion in July 2023.

Commenting on the end of year results, Joe Browns CEO, Peter Alecock, who joined the company in July 2022 and was previously COO at JD Sports, said: We are really pleased with both sales and profits to the year ending June 22. It’s testament to the amazing team we have here at Joe Browns across every area of the business and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved.

“We expect the external trading environment to remain challenging. As such creating stand-out, remarkable product has always been central to the Joe Browns business and this ethos has never been more important than today.”

In February 2023, Joe Browns reported a “robust” Christmas 2022 trading period, with overall sales rising 19.5% in the four weeks to 25 December, with menswear the best performing category – up 35%.
