Jil Sander announces first joint project with Arc’teryx
Jil Sander and high-end Canadian technical apparel and equipment brand Arc’teryx have unveiled a collaborative capsule for Jil Sander+, the company’s line dedicated to active life outdoors.
The Autumn/Winter 2021-22 collection consists of three jackets - one unisex, one for women, and one for men, a pair of bibbed trousers and a one-piece suit for both genders.
Throughout the Jil Sander+ x Arc’teryx collection, creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier incorporated influences from skiing, snowboarding and mountain sports, with technical fabrics such as 3L Gore-Tex alongside leather overlays as well as new shapes and silhouettes.
All of the items come in the collection’s colour palette, which features classic black and white as well as a blue-grey colour inspired by glaciers.
In a statement, the Meiers said they chose Arc’teryx for their 30-year commitment to craftsmanship, product integrity, and functionality, to authentic performance and innovation in their search for a strong partner to produce exceptional purpose-built apparel,
Lucie and Luke Meier, Creative Directors of Jil Sander said: "We both grew up spending time in the mountains enjoying winter sports but we could never find garments that balanced high performance with high aesthetic quality. Eventually, with Arc’teryx, a company we have always admired for their rigor and commitment to research, we had the chance to design them."
Complementing the brand’s main collection, Jil Sander + seasonally adds a series of products made for life in nature, for both men and women. The Jil Sander + collections blend the sense of luxury, comfort, and design of Jil Sander with honest, authentic items.
