It’s curtains up for Selfridges’ showtime-inspired Christmas windows

This holiday season, Selfridges is inviting customers to a cabaret-inspired theatrical extravaganza as it unveils its latest window displays. The over-the-top Christmas windows took over 100 hours to install by a team of more than 50 people.

The iconic department store, along with costume designer Max Allen, have created an “ensemble” of Christmas characters who will star in the Oxford Street window. As one of the 10, and arguably the most important, Santa Claus takes the helm as ‘Stage Director'.

Selfridges commissioned specialist painter, Queenie Ingrams, to hand-paint decorative set pieces. In addition, prop artist Matilda Greenwood has created a collection of larger-than-life crackers, moons, snow mounds and stars.

Visitors to Oxford Street become the audience to the high-octane Showtime! production. But the celebrations don't stop there. In-store, gifts and partywear for every personality have been carefully curated across all categories. Santa and his troupe of bow ballerinas are entertaining customers in-store from Friday 24 November.

As of 29 November, Selfridges London is set to welcome a scene-stealing immersive experience inspired by Cabaret. At Cabaret: The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges visitors can enjoy Champagne cocktails and cuvées from Moët & Chandon. Imagined by Cabaret set and costume designer, Tom Scutt, this is the flamboyant destination for grown-up festive celebrations.
