In Pictures: Versace launches latest Icons campaign with Cillian Murphy and Anne Hathaway

Versace has launched its new Icons campaign for 2024, starring Academy Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy for the first time and American actress Anne Hathaway for her second Icons campaign.

Irish actor Murphy, best known for his role as Tommy Shelby in period crime drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ and for his lead performance in biographical thriller ‘Oppenheimer’, also worked with Chief Creative Officer Donatella Versace for the accompanying video.


Donatella Versace said: "Strong, direct, iconic. For me, Anne and Cillian are two of the best actors of today. Exceptionally talented and kind people I admire and respect, looking their best. Very Versace."

The campaign, shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, sees Anne Hathaway and Cillian Murphy "unafraid to be their true selves and to show different sides of their iconic personalities" through wearing pieces from the latest Icons collection.

Murphy said: "Collaborating with Donatella – from sharing image references to selecting the music of Fontaines D.C. for the video (with the ‘Boys in the Better Land’ track) – resulted in a campaign that reflects who I am. The collection of well cut empowering designs made from great fabric suits me perfectly."

Tailoring is at the foundation of both the men’s and women’s pieces in the new SS24 Icons collection. Highlights include a women’s cropped raglan jacket with couture-like rounded shoulder, and men’s tailored jackets with metal ‘Medusa Biggie’ details across the breast pocket.

Iconic Versace details elevate pieces in the collection, whether it’s a silk Barocco print insert at the back of a cotton trench coat, or Medusa ’95 metal hardware across the waist of A-line skirts.

Leather is as much a code of the house of Versace as the iconic Medusa or Barocco print and a full offering is presented for both genders across coats, blazers, biker jackets, shirts, trousers and dresses. A dress in soft nappa leather features the signature Versace bustier crafted into the bodice to underline the form of the body.

Denim is also elevated with a tailored cut on women’s jackets, bustier tops and jeans that are "elegantly signed by a metal Medusa ’95 at the waistline", and men’s denim jeans and jackets are available in different washes and fits.

The "codes of the House" continue across a full selection of bags and shoes, epitomised by the Medusa ’95 bag line that features the iconic signature as a belt-like detail across structured bag styles.

Hathaway said: "I have met so many Versace women who are powerful, emotionally available, ambitious, substantive, funny, fierce, loving, singular, sexy, smart, talented and generous - very much like Donatella.

"I have observed that a Versace Woman is herself. I am so thrilled and honoured to be considered a Versace Woman and am overjoyed to reunite with the Versace family for another Icons campaign."
