UNIQLO and Theory’s joint store in the heart of Covent Garden will tomorrow open its doors to the public, unveiling three expansive floors in a grade II-listed former carriage hall.

Having already opened a flagship joint UNIQLO and Theory store on London's Regent Street last spring, parent company Fast Retailing officially opens its second joint location tomorrow.

The space, which stocks fan favourites including the nylon cross-body bag, focuses on experience-led features for customers including RE.UNIQLO Studio, UTme! and Uniqlo UK’s first-ever cafe in store.

The 1,450 sq m store spans three floors and features entrances on both Long Acre and Floral Street. 113 sq m will be dedicated to Theory, the premium brand which focuses on modern wardrobe-essentials. The opening will mark the fourth location for Theory in the UK and the 17th for UNIQLO.

Alessandro Dudech, COO of UNIQLO UK, commented: "It’s an honour to be opening in an area of London with such cultural and retail heritage and continuing to expand our UK presence in important retail locations. With such a strong footfall from both Londoners and tourists, we look forward to offering LifeWear to both new and existing UNIQLO customers."

The opening is the latest showcase of UNIQLO's new approach to localised retail whereby it the Japanese brand partners with local artisans and services to create a unique experience in each store.

Upon entrance, visitors will notice the floral arrangements that have been designed to reflect the colour pallet of wardrobe basics on display. The flowers have been arranged by South East London florist, JamJar Flowers and were inspired by the historic Covent Garden flower market. On the ground floor, by the self-service check-out point, customers can peruse the JamJar Flowers pop-up, which offers a range of dried floral knick-knacks and artworks.

The second floor is home to UNIQLO UK’s first tearoom. The company has partnered with London-based Japanese tearooms Katsute100, providing customers with Japanese-inspired refreshments in its café, which can also be enjoyed on its aesthetic terrace.

Neighbouring the café, customers will find RE.UNIQLO Studio, which provides customisation or repair services to preloved UNIQLO garments. There is also a selection of personalised pieces on offer to shoppers.
