Community Clothing, the business founded by designer and ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ judge, Patick Grant, has launched an Organic Athletic sportswear line that is 100% plastic free and biodegradable.

The new 13-piece collection is made exclusively using plant-based textile technology. It includes vests, t-shirts, sweatshirts and three styles of shorts, available in sizes XS to 4XL for men, and sizes 6-20 for women.

The company says that the majority of modern sportswear is made from non-biodegradable oil-based synthetic plastic materials, and this new line of high performance and durable athletic clothing "represents radically different thinking in the world of sportswear".

Patrick Grant said: "Community Clothing Organic Athletic represents the most radical change in sportswear in two generations. Moving away from oil-based sports clothes to 100% natural and biodegradable means now you can exercise and not harm the planet in the process."

Since its launch in 2016, Community Clothing has used only natural fibre based main fabrics in its clothing.

The move to remove all plastic from this new sportswear line is the result of a five year programme of innovation with the brand’s UK textile manufacturing partners, including the development of lightweight, fast-drying and breathable cotton fabrics and an innovative woven natural rubber and cotton elastic.
