British outerwear brand Arctic Army, best known for its over-the-top outerwear silhouettes and exaggerated fur trims, has gone "proudly fur free" for the first time since it was founded in Bristol in 2017 for its AW23 collection.

The new collection, which is "inspired by UFOs and new dimensions", debuts a luxury faux fur that has a natural appearance and finish, and the same oversized aesthetic, endeavouring "to continue to provide consumers with the extravagance they’ve come to expect from the brand" – now being sold on its website and via Flannels.

Arctic Army’s Creative Director, Ed Jefferson, said: "The move to go fur free aligns with the brand’s evolving interest in product development. Advancements in faux fur technology have reached a point where we can offer our customers luxurious alternatives that are virtually indistinguishable from real fur.

"We understand that some of our loyal customers appreciate the luxury of real fur trims. However, we are confident that the same level of extravagance can be achieved with our new faux fur offerings. We believe our customers will respect our commitment to sourcing alternatives and creating a positive impact.

"We wanted to ensure that our new faux fur almost mirrored the softness and aesthetic of traditional fur. It’s easy to care for, making it a practical choice for everyday wear."

The brand’s best-selling ‘Puffer’ jacket takes centre stage once again for AW23, with an improved fit and removable faux fur hood trim. The down-filled jacket is water-resistant with a high-shine featherlight nylon finish.

The collection also features new styles such as the shaped ‘Long Puffer’ as part of the womenswear collection, available in a variety of colourways.
