Boohoo to open events space in London's West End

Online fashion group Boohoo is set to open a physical showroom and events space in London's West End.

The Manchester-based group is reported to have signed a lease for a 3,500 sq ft space at 6-10 Great Portland Street, close to Oxford Circus.

It is understood the space will not be widely open to the public but will include a bar, event space, working spaces and a showroom for its line-up of fast fashion brands, which include Boohoo, Pretty Little Thing and Nasty Gal.

Last year Pretty Little Thing opened an influencer lounge on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles,  to position itself closer to the celebrities that drive the business. The space also acts as the brand's US HQ.

News that Boohoo is looking to create a physical presence follows on from yesterday's announcement that Manchester's The Hut Group, which owns beauty and lifestyle brands such as Illamasqua and Glossy Box, is planning to open a store in the centre of its home city.

Earlier today it was revealed that Boohoo has surpassed its London-based rival ASOS in terms of market capitalisation with a valuation of £2.4bn compared to £2.16bn for ASOS.
