House of Fraser Telford to remain open
Another House of Fraser store, Telford, has been saved from closure following Sports Direct's deal to buy the department store chain out of administration two weeks ago.
Telford had been one of the 31 stores slated for closure by the chain's previous management, but Ashley has stated an ambition to keep 47 of its 59 stores open if possible.
Immediately after the deal Ashley appointed real estate experts CBRE to begin negotiations with landlords to save as many stores as possible. Earlier this week it was revealed that House of Fraser's flagship store on Oxford Street had also been saved from closure.
James Keany, head of national agency at CBRE, said of the Telford deal, which saves 150 jobs: "This is another example of what can be achieved when landlords work with us to ensure we deliver on the House of Fraser rescue plan."
