Freemans goes back to its roots with new buy now pay later offering

15 March 2024

Freemans, a pioneer of modern-day buy now pay later (BNPL) financing, is returning to its old ways with the introduction of a new customer credit offer, Flexi3.

The retailer, who last year announced that it was retiring its catalogue after its digital sales soared, is on a fast-paced evolution to become a purely digital player. Flexi3, Freeman's first credit offer in 13 years, adds to the modernisation of the platform.

It gives customers the option to split payments over three months, with no interest or spread the cost over a longer term. This is in addition to paying nothing for the first five weeks.

Flexi3's campaign, which airs on the 16 March, introduces customers to the credit offer. The all-too-familiar voice of Canadian comedian and writer Katherine Ryan explains how Flexi3 works as models of different ages, genders and sizes all wear some of the latest Freemans fashion in a variety of ‘flexible’ poses.

Richard Cristofoli, Chief Customer Officer, said: "Over the past few years, we have evolved the way we communicate our offer positioning ourselves as a vibrant digital department store, showcasing the very best of product, enticing new customers to shop with Freemans as our transformational journey continues at pace.

"Choice has always been an integral part and this has now been extended further to include newer more flexible ways to pay with the launch of Flexi3. We know that for many customers offering new alternative payment methods represents a key part of our value proposition. It’s why we have decided to launch a brand-new credit offer."

Stuart Daniels, Chief Credit Officer, added: "We know that shoppers often find credit confusing, so we deliberately designed Flexi3, with a great deal of customer research, to be as straightforward and easy to understand – with the option to split payments over three months with no interest, as well as paying nothing for the first five weeks."
