Selfridges launches its latest window installation in the spirit of celebration

Chloe Burney
10 January 2023

Selfridges has replaced its Christmas window displays with a 2D makeover, continuing its previous theme of celebration and joyful occasions.

Marking the new season and New Year, the store’s windows focus on ‘helping customers celebrate special moments, big or small.’ Gone is the abundance of glitter and inflated Christmas dinners - now the windows feature a multi-sensory 2D world of illustration.

Four female artists and illustrators, including Angela Kirkwood, Paulina Almira, Brindha Kumar, and Lena Yokoyama have been commissioned to interpret the 113-year-old store’s destinations. These spots include Dolly’s Café, the Skate Bowl, and The Psychic Sisters, which are all part of the 29 window's transformations across the London, Manchester, and Birmingham stores.

At the flagship on London’s Oxford Street, customers are met with John Booth’s commissioned artworks, inviting shoppers to explore various interpretations of the word ‘celebration’.

In true Selfridges fashion, customers will be able to shop exclusive two-dimensional inspired collaborations and drops throughout the year. These collections will include a selection of treats featuring Angela Kirkwood's designs, playful trinkets by David Shrigley and more highly anticipated reveals throughout 2023.
